Judy's "Hop To It" Quilt

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am sharing Judy's quilt that she made using the "Hop To It" pattern by Edyta Sitar/Laundry Basket Quilts.  Pattern can be purchased at Laundrybasketquilts.com

This cleint does beautiful applique.  This is the first time I finally talked Judy into letting me do "a little" quilting  ON the applique.  Not a lot, just enough to accent it.  Awesome!  I loved it! I think it really adds to the overall quilt.
I hope you all enjoy looking at the pictures of Judy's Quilt as much I enjoyed quilting it!

I am happy and I had fun quilting Judy's quilt....and that my "quilty friends", is what it is all about!

Quilts, Quilts and Catching up on Quilting

Hello Quilty Friends!

Sharing more photos of custom quilts that I have been working on for the past 9 weeks during my crazy catch up time.  I had 46 quilts in house when I had my foot surgery and they have sat here for 12 weeks just waiting for the foot to heal and for me to resume working. I have the best clients, that left their quilts with me, waiting for me to recover and complete the quilting on their quilts.
This first quilt was made by my client Phyllis and is beautiful.  The pattern is called "The Lighthouse Quilt" by Primrose Lane     primroselane.com

Next, is another quilt made by Phyllis M.  This pattern is called, "Little Red Barns" by The Quilt Company
thequiltcompany.com

The next quilt was for a LQS, Dragonfly in High Point, NC.  It is called, "Bertie's Year" and can be found at creativequiltkits.com

I am happy and had fun quilting these quilts.....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!

Brenda's Double Wedding Ring Quilt

Hello Quilty Friends!

It has been a while since my last post. I am very sorry for that, but when I got the all-clear from my foot surgeon that I could start back quilting and being on my foot.....I took off quilting and here it is 9 weeks later and I am finally coming up for air!

Today, I am sharing a quilt made by my client Brenda Hanes.  She used the Quiltworx.com paper piece pattern for the Double Wedding Ring to make her quilt. This was to be a Christmas gift for her youngest son and his wife.  Brenda's DIL had run across a quilt similar to this on the internet at sewkindofwonderful.com and was in love...Brenda asked me if I could do something very similar to this quilting ... Totally not my style of quilting but I am always up for a challenge.
I used two battings for this quilt.  Bottom batting was Quilter's Dream Request and the top batting was the Quilter's Dream Puff.  With the white background fabric I needed a bright white batting. I used So Fine! 50 thread.
Enjoy

I am happy and had fun, (and a challenge) quilting this quilt for Brenda.....and that, my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!

Happy Quilting!

My Beautiful Star Quilt (Bethlehem Star)

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am sharing photos of one of my personal quilts! I named this quilt, "This One Is Mine"....yes,all mine.  I absolutely fell in love with this pattern for this quilt and just had to make it.
I used the pattern, "Star of Bethlehem" by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.  I did change the outside border...as a LAQ, I wanted one more place to play and quilt something cool.
I did not take any photos of this quilt as I was piecing it and did not take any photos while quilting it, either.  I kept this quilt to myself until it was finished.
I do have a few photos of my quilt when hanging in a few quilt shows that I entered it in.

The first time I entered my quilt was the Dixie Classic Fair 2011, Wintson-Salem, NC. Our "home town" county fair. It took first place in large bed category.

Then I entered it at the Forsyth Piecers and Quilters Quilt Show 2012 and it won the Blue Ribbon in the Large Bed Catagory and Best of Show!!!!!! I was on cloud nine! I was in the judging room that day helping....I can tell you that I had to really keep my poker face on when the judges got down to my quilt and one other for the Best of Show Ribbon.....then the judges wanted those two quilts held up so they could see how the light cast on them...well, I was standing there and actually had to help hold my very own quilt. How in the world those judges did not see that end of the quilt shaking is beyond me....I thought I would pass out before they decided....then I heard it....My quilt had won Best of Show....Thank goodness there was a chair behind me, because I had to sit down...quick! I was so happy.
NOTE: The lighting in the building made the background fabric look yellow. Background fabric is more a cream color.

Third time that I entered my quilt, was at the Heart of the Triad Quilt Guild quilt show 2013. It won 3rd Place ribbon in Large Bed Category

I then entered my quilt at the Gate City Quilters quilt show 2013....and it took Blue ribbon in the large bed category.

As you can tell, I am very proud of this quilt. This is the first quilt that I pieced and quilted myself for competition.  I love this quilt.

The fabric that I chose for the outside border gave me a place to play and have fun with the quilting.

The large setting areas also gave me plenty of room to have more quilting fun.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing my quilt. I named this quilt..."This One Is Mine" because it is.....all mine as in pieced and quilted...My many thanks go to Edyta Sitar and Laundry Basket Quilts for the pattern that caught my eye!
I have actually thought about making this pattern again.  I have grown so much with my LAQ in the past few years and now I can think of several things that I would do differently....
I am so happy with this quilt and had way too much fun quilting it....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!
Happy Quilting

Jackie's Jingle Quilt

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am sharing a beautiful quilt made by Jackie. She used the pattern named "Jingle" by Erin Russek at www.erinrussek.typepad.com

Jackie does the most beautiful applique...I would stand and gaze at each block of the applique in awe of how perfect the applique is.  Not a stitch showing!

This is my favorite block on the applique blocks!

All trimmed and ready to go!

Jackie loved her quilt!
I am happy and had fun quilting it.....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!
