My Beautiful Star Quilt (Bethlehem Star)

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am sharing photos of one of my personal quilts! I named this quilt, "This One Is Mine"....yes,all mine.  I absolutely fell in love with this pattern for this quilt and just had to make it.
I used the pattern, "Star of Bethlehem" by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.  I did change the outside a LAQ, I wanted one more place to play and quilt something cool.
I did not take any photos of this quilt as I was piecing it and did not take any photos while quilting it, either.  I kept this quilt to myself until it was finished.
I do have a few photos of my quilt when hanging in a few quilt shows that I entered it in.

The first time I entered my quilt was the Dixie Classic Fair 2011, Wintson-Salem, NC. Our "home town" county fair. It took first place in large bed category.

Then I entered it at the Forsyth Piecers and Quilters Quilt Show 2012 and it won the Blue Ribbon in the Large Bed Catagory and Best of Show!!!!!! I was on cloud nine! I was in the judging room that day helping....I can tell you that I had to really keep my poker face on when the judges got down to my quilt and one other for the Best of Show Ribbon.....then the judges wanted those two quilts held up so they could see how the light cast on them...well, I was standing there and actually had to help hold my very own quilt. How in the world those judges did not see that end of the quilt shaking is beyond me....I thought I would pass out before they decided....then I heard it....My quilt had won Best of Show....Thank goodness there was a chair behind me, because I had to sit down...quick! I was so happy.
NOTE: The lighting in the building made the background fabric look yellow. Background fabric is more a cream color.

Third time that I entered my quilt, was at the Heart of the Triad Quilt Guild quilt show 2013. It won 3rd Place ribbon in Large Bed Category

I then entered my quilt at the Gate City Quilters quilt show 2013....and it took Blue ribbon in the large bed category.

As you can tell, I am very proud of this quilt. This is the first quilt that I pieced and quilted myself for competition.  I love this quilt.

The fabric that I chose for the outside border gave me a place to play and have fun with the quilting.

The large setting areas also gave me plenty of room to have more quilting fun.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing my quilt. I named this quilt..."This One Is Mine" because it is.....all mine as in pieced and quilted...My many thanks go to Edyta Sitar and Laundry Basket Quilts for the pattern that caught my eye!
I have actually thought about making this pattern again.  I have grown so much with my LAQ in the past few years and now I can think of several things that I would do differently....
I am so happy with this quilt and had way too much fun quilting it....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!

Jackie's Jingle Quilt

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am sharing a beautiful quilt made by Jackie. She used the pattern named "Jingle" by Erin Russek at

Jackie does the most beautiful applique...I would stand and gaze at each block of the applique in awe of how perfect the applique is.  Not a stitch showing!

This is my favorite block on the applique blocks!

All trimmed and ready to go!

Jackie loved her quilt!
I am happy and had fun quilting it.....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!

Debbie's Beautiful Quilt

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am sharing a quilt made by Debbie Y.  It is from the pattern "Stars In Your Eyes" by Sarah Fielke in the book "Quilting from Little Things" (thanks to Lee for that info)

I love the colors of fabrics that Debbie chose for this quilt. Just beautiful! I decided to go simple on the quilting to match the fabric choices.  This is one of those quilts when the fabrics are perfect for the pattern and the quilting does not need to over power that.

I am happy and I had fun quilting it.....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!

This week.....Just Quilted with Pantographs

Hello Quilty Friends!

Hope you are having a great week!  Me, I am SO happy to be back LAQ! It has been a very long 10 weeks of recovering from surgery.  I am not back full time yet, only a few hours each day, but I will take it!

This week I did Gail's custom quilt, which can be found in the previous post....but I also was able to get a few pantograph quilts done as well!

This is Judi Low's Mod Quad Quilt!  Beautiful black and white fabrics and she chose batiks for the colored fabrics!

Big thanks to Judi for emailing me these photos as I forgot to take pics of her quilt.

Next is Barbara's quilt....It is from the pattern, "Flashback" by Bear Hug Quiltworks.  I love the red, gray, black and white!

Next is Vicki's Baby Swoon quilt...

That's about it for this week....I am happy and had fun quilting these quilts...and that my "quilty friends" what it is all about!

Gail's Quilt

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am sharing photos of my customer, Gail's quilt.  This quilt was originally started by Pam Whitaker and Gail Steppe finished it. Gail does not know the name of the pattern as she acquired this quilt top after Pam passed away.
If anyone knows the name and designer of this quilt pattern, please let me know and I will certainly add it to this post.
Gail gave this quilt to me just before my accident and had to wait....I assured her it would be finished before the date that she needed it done by.  I delivered it to her today and she was very pleased with the outcome and so was I...

My favorite type feather!  I don't use a circle template...I just quilt them....I work the stem part first

Then I start the fill in with the feather plumes.  I use the stem to sneak back to the next area to be quilted.

I even remembered to take lots of pictures too!
I am happy and (so was my customer).. had fun quilting it.....
and that, my "quilty firends" is what it is all about!

Little something old...Sun Bonnet Sue Quilt

Hello Quilty Friends!

It's been a while....but I have finally started working on customer quilts again.  Recovery from foot surgery is going good...I can stand for about 30 minutes at a time till the throbbing starts and I have to sit down.  I prefer to stand and quilt, so it is taking some getting used to, but at least I am getting to work.

I started back with an easy custom old Sun Bonnet Sue!
The lady who brought this quilt to me bought it at a garage sale for $10.... it is stained and old but she wanted it quilted.  She doesn't know who made it. But whoever did....did a very good job of the applique part, beautiful stitches. Some of the fabrics are damaged and weak from age and the lower corner is sun faded.

I only took three pics and I am sorry for that.

I am happy (and so is the customer) and I had fun quilting it....and that
my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!

Quilt Closeups!

Hello Quilty Friends!

On today's post I am sharing some photos of quilts that I have quilted in the past..These quilts were before I started my "blogging" so most of these photos are just close up areas that I liked and wanted to remember what I had quilted in a particular place on the quilt. My appologies that I don't know what quilts these photos are from.
Hope you enjoy!

This was made by Muriel R.

 This was made by Jackie

This one, I can not remember who made it. If any one knows, let me know and I will add it.

This was made by Muriel R.  I loved quilting this one. Tried "Modern quilting"...

Not enough of the quilt showing to tell who made this one.

These are just a few of my favorite close up pics from quilts that I have quilted. I am realizing that I need to take more pics of the quilts, especially now that I have my blog.  When I start back to work after surgery recovery, I will do that for sure.

I am happy and had fun quilting these quilts....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!
