"Oh My Stars" My Personal Quilt

Hello "Quilty" Friends!
Now for my own quilt....I pieced the top for this quilt almost two years ago. Yes, I said two years ago, but my personal quilts get moved down the stack quite often.
This quilt is from the book "Stellar Stars" by Judy Martin. I fell in love with this quilt the minute I saw it, just had to make it. Although, I have a problem with making true "scrap" quilts....I start organizing the colors in notime....So, for this quilt, I simply just used the reds, creams, blacks, and green fabrics that I wanted to use and that my friends is about as close to a "scrappy" quilt that I can get.

I decided to scallop the border on this quilt. So, by deciding to do this before I did the quilting, I was able to use one of my longarm rulers to actually mark the scallop.  This made my work easier..having the same shape of the curve in a longarm ruler, I could use it make stitch the curves with ease.

The feather stem in the cream border was just freehand. I curled out one time then curled in for the next.  I did use a double batting for this quilt. This was my first attempt of double batting and I was very pleased.

Of course, a picture of the back!

I entered this quilt in my local Forsyth Piecers and Quilt Guild quilt show a few months ago and it won 1st place in the Large Bed Catagory and the Viewer's Choice Ribbon. It also won the Carolina Longarm Association's Best Longarm Ribbon.

I am happy and had fun quilting it....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!
Happy Quilting!
Gina
