Opportunity Quilt for the Heart of the Triad Quilt Guild

Hello Quilty Friends!

Today I am going to share pics of the quilt that the Heart of the Triad Quilt Guild made and I quilted for their Opportunity Quilt 2015.
The quilt pattern is from the book "The Country Inn" by Barb Adam and Alma Allen.

I stared at this quilt for a few days before starting it.  I wanted something neat quilted on it because of it being an Opportunity Quilt.  When I looked at it, I was drawn to the petal flower every time...So, that is where I started.  At first, I was only going to just have the design just around the petal flowers, but once I had drawn it out for two of the them, it almost touched....so, why not? I decided to join them, and then it made a big oval around the big appliqued flowers. So, within a few minutes, the quiting design had totally changed and was going in a different direction.  My only wish for this quilt, was that it had been with a batting with more loft.

A different angle of the beginning quilting.....

Then I decided to do a tighter background fill inside around the petal flower. Keeping it a little "looser" around the big flowers.

With the big flowers, I did not want to quilt it too tight or over quilt it.  I wanted to keep it soft. I did do some quilting in the machine applique.

The border fabric was very bright and busy. I decided to keep it simple with a 1" crosshatch.  The ladies who made the quilt had premarked the border with a scallop.

                                                              Even "closer" close up.

                                                                       It is finished!
The ladies picked the quilt up, trimmed it and did the binding...
Then decided to enter the quilt in the Piedmont Quiters Quilt Show last weekend...

Blue Ribbon and Best of Show!

I am happy and had fun quilting this quilt.....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!
Happy Quilting!
