Today I am sharing photos of one of my personal quilts! I named this quilt, "This One Is Mine"....yes,all mine. I absolutely fell in love with this pattern for this quilt and just had to make it.
I used the pattern, "Star of Bethlehem" by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. I did change the outside border...as a LAQ, I wanted one more place to play and quilt something cool.
I did not take any photos of this quilt as I was piecing it and did not take any photos while quilting it, either. I kept this quilt to myself until it was finished.
I do have a few photos of my quilt when hanging in a few quilt shows that I entered it in.
The first time I entered my quilt was the Dixie Classic Fair 2011, Wintson-Salem, NC. Our "home town" county fair. It took first place in large bed category.
Then I entered it at the Forsyth Piecers and Quilters Quilt Show 2012 and it won the Blue Ribbon in the Large Bed Catagory and Best of Show!!!!!! I was on cloud nine! I was in the judging room that day helping....I can tell you that I had to really keep my poker face on when the judges got down to my quilt and one other for the Best of Show Ribbon.....then the judges wanted those two quilts held up so they could see how the light cast on them...well, I was standing there and actually had to help hold my very own quilt. How in the world those judges did not see that end of the quilt shaking is beyond me....I thought I would pass out before they decided....then I heard it....My quilt had won Best of Show....Thank goodness there was a chair behind me, because I had to sit down...quick! I was so happy.
NOTE: The lighting in the building made the background fabric look yellow. Background fabric is more a cream color.
Third time that I entered my quilt, was at the Heart of the Triad Quilt Guild quilt show 2013. It won 3rd Place ribbon in Large Bed Category
I then entered my quilt at the Gate City Quilters quilt show 2013....and it took Blue ribbon in the large bed category.
As you can tell, I am very proud of this quilt. This is the first quilt that I pieced and quilted myself for competition. I love this quilt.
The fabric that I chose for the outside border gave me a place to play and have fun with the quilting.
The large setting areas also gave me plenty of room to have more quilting fun.
I hope that you enjoyed seeing my quilt. I named this quilt..."This One Is Mine" because it is.....all mine as in pieced and quilted...My many thanks go to Edyta Sitar and Laundry Basket Quilts for the pattern that caught my eye!
I have actually thought about making this pattern again. I have grown so much with my LAQ in the past few years and now I can think of several things that I would do differently....
I am so happy with this quilt and had way too much fun quilting it....and that my "quilty friends" is what it is all about!
Happy Quilting
